In my case, I'd have my pc on at one place all the time and connect to it from my MBP remotely using "unattended access" (here's an explanation from tech jockey). So, A while ago I heard of a program called AnyDesk, which works pretty well (it's like team viewer) and started using it for a similar purpose. I get that the official dock is better but I don't get how. I bought this thing for $18 before my Steam Deck got here because I thought having a keyboard and mouse connected would help set it up and it seems to work fine but I didn't even really need it because I just used AnyDesk and my desktop PC instead (I still use AnyDesk to do anything I need a keyboard for although any remote desktop software would work). Every app you download on your phone/devices requires permission that you blindly accept with no question. It's an officially supported app on the play store, a legitimate company,, not sketchy. Remote Control Your Nvidia Shield From Anywhere You may be able to use AnyDesk not sure if the free version can be installed on a server, but this would allow your partner to connect directly to the console instance. Instead of RDP, you can use alternate remote access tools. Hyper V - Remote Desktop Connection via Public IP Address (outside network connection) There are services out there that do that kind of thing for you.
